Scar Therapy

Scar therapy uses gentle, non-invasive physical therapy to stimulate natural healing and remodel scar tissue on and below the skin's surface, which helps to improve the flexibility, discomfort, and appearance of scars.

The tailored approach includes specific massage techniques and self-care advice to help manage symptoms independently. The treatment is effective for various problematic scars including C-sections, mastectomies, abdominal surgeries, head and neck surgeries and on skin that has undergone radiotherapy treatment.

Therapy can begin once a scar has fully healed (typically around two weeks post-injury or surgery), and even older, mature scars can still benefit from the treatment. If you're unsure if the service is suitable for your specific condition, it is recommended to get in touch for a consultation

Benefits of Scar Therapy

  • Improved Mobility

By gently mobilising scar tissue and surrounding skin, the therapy helps restore range of motion in affected joint.

  • Pain Reduction

The massage techniques aim to ease adhesions and fibrous tissue, significantly reducing discomfort and pain.

  • Psychological Wellbeing

Scar therapy provides not only physical relief but also psychological support, helping patients feel more comfortable in their bodies.

  • Empowerment

Patients are given exercises and scar care advice to continue their recovery independently between sessions.

  • Timely & Flexible

Therapy can begin soon after surgery (once the scar is fully healed) or even years later, making it accessible to a wide range of patients.

  • Positive Outcomes

Many patients have experienced significant improvements, with some reporting transformative results after just a few sessions.

  • "After two breast cancer operations left me with significant pain, tightness, and reduced arm mobility, the therapy restored my physical mobility, it has also provided psychological healing, giving me the confidence to touch and look at my scars daily, something I never imagined possible."
